Its become apparent research that cleaning your hands and all other forms of personal hygiene are the main ways to prevent anyone from catching this virus.  Many homes are facing problems are the wrong cleaning products. Hand sanitizers are great but lack residual effects ( not long lasting)    A good household choice would be bleach but unfortunately many surfaces you cant use it on ( big no,no with septic tanks as it anti bacterial hand wash)

 There are currently no products that have been tested on Covid 19 and are certified to work but for home use a disinfectant with EN1276 on the back in a good choice.  EN1276 certifies that the product is effective against enveloped viruses like Covid 19.

Coronaviruses have been around for a long time and belong to a group of viruses known as ‘enveloped viruses’.   The virus is enclosed by a lipid membrane (a fat like substance), the membrane (envelope) is used by the virus to attach itself to the host cell, the virus then penetrates the host cell and replicates itself.  The envelope is quite fragile and susceptible to changes in temperature, pH levels and disinfectants

Other envelope viruses include – Chicken pox, Influenza A, Hepititus C, HIV and coronaviruses.

  The great news for us is that outside the human body these viruses are very weak and are easily destroyed with hot water and disinfectant.  It gets a lot trickier once they are inside the human body.

 If there has been known contact with coronavirus then a decontamination with a QAT (Quantenary ammonium compound) based product is recommended.  QATs can be used on pretty much all surfaces including soft furnishings and have a broad spectrum kill meaning that they are effective against bacteria, viruses and mould.  These are the type of product being used in sprayers and foggers by the NHS and professional biohazard cleaning companies. 

 Rural Cleans Yorkshire Lts uses Formula 429FC by Chemspec. Which has a Log kill6 meaning they kill 99.999% of microbes and broad spectrum kills.  Formula 429 is safe to use in a food preparation area and both have residual effects leaving the surfaces protected for up to 7 days.
